“ I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church in Cenchreae. I ask you to receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of his people and to give her any help she may need from you, for she has been the benefactor of many people, including me…….” Romans 16:1-16

At the end of his letter to the Romans, Apostle Paul takes time to greet, commend and express gratitude to some individuals. These people as we read were of great value to Paul’s ministry. He wouldn’t have accomplished much without these individuals.

The journey of life us difficult to make alone. You need allies who will walk the road with you. We all need help along the day. Paul’s allies were his benefactors, his co-workers and his friends.

We learn from the bible that Daniel had friends too, they were Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego. At a point where they faced a challenge and they were to worship an image, they refused, they stuck together and said: “ If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us[a] from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

As young people who want to do exploits, We all need people in our lives who will be able to encourage us when we face challenges. People who will instil the word of God in us.

When Paul was discouraged , they encouraged him. He was able to achieve great things and do exploits standing on their shoulders.

You need to build this kind of network and work at keeping these relationships strong!
